From 59 Private Universities (PTS) from both inside and outside the country who participated in the 2014 Higher Education Exhibition Week which took place on February 14-16 at the Grand Palladium Medan, University of Medan Area (UMA) displayed campus excellence and student achievements.
UMA Promotion Chair Drs Irwan Nasution MAP told reporters at the exhibition booth location yesterday that the UMA booth displayed faculty information and study programs as well as postgraduate programs (PPs) and publicized academic and non-academic achievements that had been achieved by universities and students themselves.
In addition, UMA also provides information to students and prospective students about the scholarship program for those who want to continue to higher education at UMA. As for high school students of the same level, UMA embodies its concern by providing free ability tests such as IQ tests for around 200 students who were held for three days of the exhibition.
To obtain legality through the UMA Psychology Consultation Bureau, give an official letter to students who have the highest score. Besides that there are also facilities and lecturer and other staff information.
Specifically for the wider community, added Irwan, UMA also provided information on 7 faculties carried out at UMA namely, the faculties of engineering, economics, agriculture, law, isipol, biology and psychology that had been accredited by BAN-PT.
While for 4 master study programs (Masters) at PPs UMA are, Masters in Public Administration, Masters in Agribusiness, Masters in Legal Studies and Masters in Psychology. For 2014, UMA will open a doctoral program (S3) for the Public Administration study program.
While Deputy Rector III Ir Zulhery Noor MP added, UMA supported the activity as an effort to disseminate to the public about tertiary education that was registered and had an operational license and accredited legality from BAN-PT. Activities aimed at promoting legitimate tertiary institutions to the public.
In the future, this activity is expected to be able to anticipate private tertiary institutions (PTS) or illegal educational institutions. Moreover, the exhibition will provide a lot of information to the public about universities or educational institutions that have permission from the Directorate of Higher Education.
With this activity prospective students especially high school and vocational graduates can find out the superior study programs they have. Through this exhibition, it can also improve the competitiveness of private universities in producing quality graduates.
